I saw Inka Essenhigh’s work while flipping through a pricey book on contemporary figurative art in a bookstore, and have been trying to remember her name ever since.
Her sensitive biomorphic style has the sensuous forms & rich tones reminiscent of Sage, Tanguy & Matta, but not at all rendered like the PoMo kitsch of Pop Surrealism that always gives me the feeling that it should be viewed ” in quotes “.
