On vacation I was browsing someone else’s ipod for songs, but didn’t know which items in the genre or artist list had more than one song. This is where information foraging cues can really benefit interface design. To the left of the > they could show a little horizontal bar indicating how much stuff is in this branch of the tree. Or adjust the height of the item in the list, as in Moritz Stefaner’s elastic lists.
